Book Art

My lovely assistant's husband wouldn't lend her his Star Wars stuff for our display case until closer to the movie comes out SO we were forced to come up with another display idea.  She rejected on on our teen group, RALF.  I rejected her idea of owls (including a papier-mache owl).  And we compromised on book art.  She brought in some pieces, I brought in a few, and one of our other coworker brought a few of her projects as well.  VOILA!

We have two book purses, a book hedgehog, two pinwheels, a book box (very inexpertly made by me before I figured out a better way to do it), some book rose garland, some baubles with book pages glued on the back, and an altered book with To Kill a Mockingbird themed art inside.

Space Camp Display!

Last year in January, we had Spy Academy (which I promise I will post more about later).  I decided I wanted to do something similar this January, but not the same event.  We’re going to space this year!

Here is my display to promote Space Camp:

I am a little irritated that my space helmet looks so lame, but other than that I really like how this turned out.  My husband plays some game that involves space ship models so he let me borrow his asteroids (natural sponges spray painted gray), the space fabric for the backing, and two of his completed models.

Inspired by BuzzFeed

My assistant must have read my mind because she took down her grilling display and left me the space to put up this display inspired by this Buzzfeed article.  There were several of the adult books that we didn't have that broke my heart (Once Upon a River by Bonnie Jo Campbell, Neuromancer by William Gibson, and The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer), but I only had space for four pairs anyway.
